BITAN Institute for Training Awareness and Networking which is well known as BITAN means - ‘Beautiful Home’. BITAN believes in TEAMWORK and JOINT APPROACH. BITAN aims to provide a space where adolescent and youth are nurtured, making them responsible & skilful, developing assertiveness &self-identity among them. BITAN is an adolescent and youth development organization which is registered under Societies Registration Act-1961, Government of West Bengal started its journey in 2005. BITAN is a state level NGO; 15 years have already passed with continuous learning and achievements. With a strong professional team and result oriented attitude, now we are more matured, enriched and rearing to go for the dream that it has envisioned from its earning. We have tried to touch upon the objectives set up by the Governing body through our activities. In the course of action we have realized that expansion of target groups and issues is necessary to achieve our vision. The thematic areas of BITAN are – Health & Health Rights, Environment & Skill Development.

BITAN is working in 16 districts (Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, PurbaBardhaman, PaschimBardhaman, Hooghly, Howrah, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Bankura, Birbhum, Purulia, PurbaMidnapur & PaschimMidnapur) of West Bengal. Since last 15 years we are working with various Government Departments like Ministry of Youth & Urban Affairs – Govt. of India, Ministry of Women & Child Welfare – Govt. of India, Department of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs – Govt. of West Bengal, Department of Social Welfare – Govt. of West Bengal, Department of Health & Family Welfare – Govt. of West Bengal and Department of Panchayet& Rural Development – Govt. of West Bengal. Beside these, we are also working with ITC MSK CSR, Ganges Jute CSR & GSK CSR and MEMISA-DGD, BELGIUM. It is our pleasure to have close association with concerned District & Block Authorities and Local Governance to build a significant partnership for effective program implementation.

Our Objectives

• To undertake need based program for adolescents & youths, women and children as well as for people under difficult circumstances.

• To conduct participatory research and take action using human resources and natural resources in the field of health, nutrition, education and environment.

• To develop human resources in GOs, NGOs and communities through appropriate training intervention.

• To develop village based strategy and networking for providing need based education and awareness to the community.

• To produce different information, education and communication (IEC) materials for behavior change in the field of health, nutrition and education.

• To operate research, training and development in the field of environmental health adopting appropriate intervention strategy.
