BASIC HEALTH CARE AND SUPPORT PROGRAM
Supported By: MEMISA- DGD, Belgium through WBVHA
Since 2012, a full-fledged program under Basic Heath Care and Support Program (BHC&SP) is being implemented by BITAN covering three Gram Panchayats viz. Mayapur, Chingripota and Budge Budge of Budge Budge 1 block. For facilitating the existing health service people’s platform was continued with active support of women’s group in the area acted as a change agent and pressure group within the community. Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee (VHSNC) has been formed to identify the problems at community level and solving those problems through advocacy with proper planning jointly with local authority (GP) and other stakeholders.

- Theme of Work: Accessibility & availability of health services to marginalized community.
- Target Group: Mother & Children (up to 5 years), Adolescent girls, eligible couple and poor people.
- Collaboration with Government: Health & ICDS department, Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI), Block authority.
MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OF 2018-2019
- 5 Institutional deliveries of unwilling women were ensured. Case stories were shared at various levels for encouraging others to ensure institutional delivery.
- 3 drop out children received their scheduled immunization.
- 5 case stories (2- still birth, 2- ligations and 1- unavailability of vehicles) were shared. As a result, primary Health Nurse declared that, referral slip will be issued immediately after the early registration (within 12 weeks).
- A total of 5 mothers received BMP entitlements with the help of community leaders.
- 5 Institutional deliveries have been ensured by community leaders.
- 2 TB patients were identified by the community leaders and BHCPS project staffs and their treatment was ensured by sending them to the nearest BPHC.
CREATING COMMUNITY HEALTH FUND THROUGH SHG FORMATION:
- A total number of 17 health fund has been created. Among those, 15 were created as SHG health fund and 2 as community health fund.
- Total 5 new SHG has been formed and ensured linkage with banks.
- 30 vulnerable families were identified and their SASPFUW registration has been completed.
