URBAN SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PROJECT
State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) awarded work order to BITAN, a non- government organization to prepare DPR on scientific solid waste management in 22 Municipality (phase i- 12 Municipality and phase ii- 10 Municipality). In addition, hand holding support for training/ capacity building/ awareness generation program as well as other support to ULBs is to be extended for twelve months from the date of submission of final DPR. Beside that the Honourable National Green Tribunal (NGT) has stipulated a strict timeline on Door to Door collection and segregation of Solid Waste on SWM Rules 2016. In its latest order dated 17th January 2020. Honourable NGT has fixed 31st March 2020 for complete implementation of SWM Rules 2016 by all ULBs and ULB wise penalty is proposed to be imposed from 1st April 2020. Keeping this in mind, we have visited allotted Municipality several times to share DPR, to take part in Task Force Committee Meeting, for discussion with respective officials regarding data collection and planning of awareness campaign on Scientific Solid Waste Management in the Municipality.
